Sand master Korey McMahon dominated the penultimate round of the 2026 Yamaha Australian Enduro Championship presented by MXstore (AusEnduro) in Coonalpyn (SA) on September 5, piling renewed pressure on Wil Ruprecht in the ‘best of the best’ Pro Enduro class with one day of competition remaining.

In a brutal day at the office – wind gusts were north of 60km/h – McMahon’s second successive Pro Enduro victory, this time in a three-hour cross-country race, was immense, winning by nearly two minutes over DM31 Racing KTM teammate Jye Dickson, followed by Kogan Lock (GASGAS), Liam Mason (KTM) and Ruprecht (Shop Yamaha) – the latter’s worst result of the season.

That allowed McMahon to carve a large chunk out Ruprecht’s season-long lead, which now stands at just 10pts (231 to 221) ahead of Sunday’s sprint format.

It’s now all set up for a blockbuster finish to another AusEnduro season, with Dickson (185pts) – although out of the title race – likely to have a huge say in the Sunday outcome.

Ruprecht (E2) and McMahon (E3) were also among seven Australian enduro champions crowned across the senior and junior classes on a super Saturday in Coonalpyn, which also included:

• Cooper Sheidow (Yamaha) in E1
• Harley Hutton (Yamaha) in J4
• Ollie Paech (GASGAS) in J2
• Lorna Lock (Yamaha) in JG – two in a row
• Rowan Pumpa (Husqvarna) in EM – three in a row

Meanwhile, Levi Rossi (KTM, J3) and John Day (Yamaha, EV) had already arrived in South Australia as AusEnduro champions.

As well as Pro Enduro, the JG and EJ classes will also go down to the wire on Sunday, with Jess Gardiner (JGR Yamaha) still feeling the heat from Madi Simpson (Yamaha Australia) in the former, while Kai Austin (Empire Kawasaki) leads Marcus Nowland (Yamaha) by 13pts in the latter.

New Zealander Rachael Archer (JGR Yamaha) was untouchable in the EW cross-country on Saturday, making it three wins from as many starts in 2026 as she defeated motocross star Emma Milesevic (Yamaha), Simpson and Gardiner, while Oscar Harris (KTM) won his first EJ round of the season ahead of Austin – who then only had just over one second to spare over Jackson Rossi (KTM) after over three-and-a-half hours of gripping action.
